TALLAND BAY TRIUMPHS AT THE CORNWALL TOURISM AWARDS 2025

If you heard the cheerful clink of gin glasses coming from our cliff-top corner of Cornwall last week, we can explain. The whole Talland Bay Hotel was absolutely delighted to scoop not one but three wins at the 2025 Cornwall Tourism Awards, including the coveted Restaurant of the Year.

Yes, you read that right. Not one, not two, but three shiny accolades now sitting proudly in reception. In a hat trick that feels suitably Talland and sums us up brilliantly, we scooped Gold for Restaurant of the Year, Bronze for Small Hotel of the Year, and Bronze for Dog Friendly Business of the Year.

Restaurant of the Year: A win for flavour, FLAIR and fine dining with a Talland twist

Our restaurant team - led by the brilliant Glen Merriot and backed by a kitchen that somehow runs on equal parts butter, imagination and utter determination to do things differently - have spent the past year cooking up dishes that are bold, seasonal and always, always delicious.

Coming off the back of recent news that we had retained our two AA Rosettes for culinary excellence, our Restaurant of the Year win is a celebration of all we hold dear about good food: the craft, the creativity, the local produce, and the feeling you get when a plate arrives and you know it’s going to be something special before you’ve even touched your fork.

Small Hotel of the Year: A big win for a small team

With so many special places to rest your head here in Cornwall, being recognized as one of the very best means a lot. Talland Bay isn’t a vast operation, but an intimate, personal place where you can exhale properly. Before breakfast comes sea views, with tonic comes a gin blended especially with the Talland guest in mind, and visiting pups are welcomed liket they were our own. To be recognised for all of that, and to have our special personality celebrated, is rather special indeed.

Dog Friendly Business of the Year: One for the four-legged regulars

We’re proud to be one of the most dog friendly hotels in Cornwall. From doggy treats that rival our award-winning food, to welcome packages for every pup in rooms, not to mention some seriously special walkies right on our doorstep, we like to think that our Dog Friendly Business of the Year accolade may just have been awarded by the appreciative pups themselves.

Thank you to everyone who has stayed, dined, celebrated, sipped, snoozed and strolled at Talland Bay Hotel this year. These awards reflect your support and we couldn’t be more grateful that you love this little place by the sea as much as we do.

And, of course, the most special “thank you” has to go to our team, who make Talland Bay all that it is.

So, what’s next? Quite a lot, actually.

We’re heading into winter with a whole diary of treats planned: from the last of our November foodie events to festive feasts and afternoon teas, Christmas stays by the sea, New Year’s celebrations, and rather a busy January after Jack’s celebratory decision to give away free nights here at Talland Bay for the month…

It’s never quiet around here. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
