Things to do in Cornwall
On our doorstep
There's so much to discover right on our doorstep, from secluded beaches and coastal paths to family-friendly attractions and events. We thought we'd take the stress of planning away from you so we've listed all of our favourite things to do in the area.
The picturesque South West Coast Path is easily accessible from the hotel and stretches for 630 miles running from Minehead in Somerset along the coasts of Devon and Cornwall. Polperro is about an hour's walk to the west of us, and Looe about an hour to the east.
Colwith Farm Distillery
Colwith Farm Distillery is the region's first plough to bottle distillery, producing premium spirits using the crops produced on the farm. Perfect for gin lovers, experiences at the distillery include masterclasses, guided tours, and tastings.
Wine tasting tours
Cornwall’s Camel Valley is a shining success story for English wines, with a raft of awards and accolades chalked up over the years. Their wine tours are relaxed, take place in breathtakingly beautiful vineyards, and are led by a passionate and knowledgeable team. But you don't have to embark on a tour, you can visit for an afternoon of sipping bubbles on the terrace.
Located only 20 miles away from us, the Eden Project offers an exciting day out for everyone. Here you'll find a rainforest biome, minibeast mansion play tower, Invisible Worlds exhibition, rainforest canopy walk and SkyWire.
Lost Gardens of Heligan
It was only 30 years ago that Heligan's historic gardens were both unknown and unseen, lost to the brambles of time since the outbreak of WWI. It was only by chance that the gardens were discovered by finding a door in the ruins of this estate. Today, you can explore one of the finest gardens in England and revel in the mystery of its past.
The Cornish coast is home to dozens of beaches, from small hidden coves that are only accessible via cliff top paths to larger, family orientated areas with refreshments and attractions. Closest to the hotel is the bay at Talland, which is a shingle beach with plenty of rock pools to explore.
The Minack Theatre
This world famous open air theatre is perched on the rugged cliffs of South West Cornwall and boasts stunning ocean views. Experience the magic of a live performance in an iconic space, or choose to explore the theatre in your own time during your visit. The Minack Theatre should definitely be on your 'must do' list.
Plymouth Theatre Royal
Putting on new shows every month, Theatre Royal Plymouth is home to musicals, comedies, dance, and drama performances, and offers something for everyone. And because we hold a corporate membership, when you stay with us you can benefit from exclusive discounts and offers. Make sure you find out what shows are on during your stay with us.
The Camel Trail
The Camel Trail is 18 miles long, mostly traffic-free, and a virtually level pathway, making it perfect for walking, cycling, running, and everything else in between. The trail provides access through the beautiful Cornish countryside along a disused railway line between Wenfordbridge, Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow.
Newquay and Dartmoor Zoos
Both Newquay and Dartmoor Zoos are located around 30 - 35 miles away from us and offer fun for all the family. Get involved in the daily feeds, activity trails, and meet some rather unusual animals. Both zoos often hold special events that can include face painting, animal-orientated games, and entertainment.
Sea Explorers at Millendreath
Head down to Millendreath Beach Resort near Looe and embark on a whole host of water sports, from kayaking around the bay to stand up paddle boarding near the shoreline. All equipment, including wetsuits, is provided. Plus, they now have underwater sea scooters for hire.
As the name suggests, Adrenaline Quarry in Looe is home to a range of activities that are perfect for adrenaline junkies. Take on Cornwall’s most extreme Aquapark, race your mates on the 800m all weather karting track, or experience the sky high giant swing or zip wire experience.
